Breaking the STEM Gap in Rural Africa Through Advocacy and Communication

Project Summary

Mathematics plays an essential role in the development and performance of Ghana’s students. This is why alumna Deborah Dormah Kanubala and her team aim to create public awareness for career options in mathematics. "Breaking the STEM Gap in Rural Africa through Advocacy and Communication" is a leadership and career development as well as an advocacy and science communication conference for selected Senior High School students in Northern Region. The goal is to ignite the interest of high school students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and to sustain the interest of those already pursuing it. It is thus a one-day conference and will provide a suitable environment for students to receive career guidance and mentorship in STEM.
