Picking up on the paradox at the heart of artificial intelligence that was the subject of last week’s blog post, this week, Andrei Mihai goes a step beyond. While AI excels at many tasks that are nearly impossible for humans, it struggles with certain tasks deemed common sense for humans. The proliferation of Large Language Models in particular, however, has sparked a larger conversation about whether AI can truly be considered creative. At the core of this debate is nothing less than the definition of creativity itself, often considered inherently subjective. Can AI exhibit “creativity”? Or is it merely very adept at remixing and reshuffling existing work?
