The HLFF Blog’s “Internet” series continues with part 5, looking at the contributions of several visionaries in organizing the internet.

We take it for granted today, but the internet is one of the most impactful inventions of modern times. But how did it all start? The story of the internet is a fascinating journey through the minds of visionary thinkers and relentless innovators, many of them coming from mathematics and computer science.

In part 5 of our series on the internet, HLFF Blog author Andrei Mihai looks at the contributions of Elizabeth "Jake" Feinler and others including Jon Postel and Paul Mockapetris. By organizing the internet's directory service, they helped turn the internet into a knowable, searchable, and navigable space. Without them, the web as we know it – full of intuitive URLs and clickable links – simply would not exist.
